BURZUM Norwegian music band, founded in 1991 by Varg Vikernes which is famous for the murder of Øystein Aarseth (Euronymous), MAYHEM guitarist (who was murdered Aug. 10, 1993), and for arson three historic churches (including the Fantoft stave church, whose remains were later placed at Aske. The name derives from JRR Tolkien's trilogy ,,The Lord of the Rings,, He comes from the line of the Rings of Power and the Black Speech means the Darkness

Currently BURZUM is considered one of the precursors and music legends BLACK METAL
